What Are Roller Shades?

A roller shade is a type of window treatment that consists of a single piece of fabric or material that rolls up or down around a cylindrical rod. It is operated by a cord, chain, or motorized mechanism, allowing users to easily adjust the level of coverage and light entering a room. Roller shades come in various styles, colors, and opacity levels, providing options for both privacy and light control. They are popular for their simplicity, versatility, and sleek appearance in enhancing the aesthetics of windows.

Custom Roller shades are precisely tailored to fit your window's dimensions, ensuring a perfect fit and enhancing their aesthetic appeal.

At Twopages Curtains, we offer a wide range of design options, from patterns and colors to the choice of cord or motorized operation.

How to Style Your Roller Shades?

Color Coordination

Choose colors that match or stand out in harmony with your existing decor. Ensure the curtain color complements the overall color palette of the room.

Layering Curtains

Consider layering curtains or Roman blinds over the roller shades. This not only creates a stylish look but also provides additional flexibility in controlling light.

Patterns and Textures

Experiment with patterns or textures to add interest and uniqueness to the roller shades. Select design elements that align with the overall style of the room.

Consider Functionality

Choose curtains with specific functionalities based on your needs, such as blackout, privacy, or insulation. Ensure the design not only looks appealing but also aligns with practical usage requirements.

How to Choose the Right Custom Roller Shades?

Choosing the right roller shade involves considering several factors:

  • Light Control: Decide whether you want a roller shade for light filtering or complete blackout. This depends on the room and your preference for natural light.

  • Privacy: Consider the level of privacy you need. Some roller shades provide more privacy than others, especially in bedrooms or private spaces.

  • Measurement: Accurately measure your windows to ensure the roller shade fits properly. Avoid getting a shade that is too big or too small for your window.

  • Aesthetics and Functionality: Choose a color or pattern that complements your interior decor. Additionally, consider the material of the roller shade and whether you prefer a manual or motorized operating mechanism for convenience.

  • Room function: Consider the room's purpose; blackout shades work well in bedrooms, while light-filtering options suit living areas.

  • Mounting options: Decide between inside or outside mount based on your window size and frame.

By carefully considering these factors, you can find a roller shade that meets both your practical needs and aesthetic preferences..

Measuring and Installing Roller Shades?

First, you need to decide if you want to mount the blinds inside the window frame (inside mount) or outside it (outside mount).

For inside mount

  • Measure the width inside the frame at three points – top, middle, and bottom. Record the narrowest measurement.

  • Measure the height inside the frame at three points – left, center, and right. Record the longest measurement.

  • Order finished width after reduction 3/8 inch to ensure that the bracket and the mechanism can be installed. And the depth needs longer than 2 inch.

For outside mount

  • Measure the width of the window frame and add extra width for desired coverage (usually 2-3 inches on each side).

  • Measure the desired height from the top of the frame to where you want the blind to end.

  • Order finished width 4 inches wider than the window frame to make sure to cover the entire window.
